While studying about the forty day appearance of Jesus Christ in His resurrected body, and how he appeared to His disciples after His resurrection from the dead to then ascend to heaven and sit to the right hand of God, the Holy Spirit led me to the scripture from Acts 1:1-12.

 

It is no coincidence in this regard that Luke - "light" writes to Theophilus - "lover of God", for this points to the revealing light of God, who wants to fill the life of His lovers with revelation knowledge.

 

1 In my former book, Theophilus (note: "lover of God"), I (note: Luke = "light") wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.

5 For John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.

11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.

 

 

In the process of ascending to His Father in heaven, Jesus Christ commanded His apostles to leave the Mount of Olives and to return to the city of Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit, the power from on high (see Luke 24:49).

 

49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

 

In following Jesus' command the apostles walked the distance of a Sabbath day's walk, which was about 800 meters (see Acts 1:12).

 

12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.

 

Viewing this situation in a prophetic context, the distance of a Sabbath day's walk from the Mount of Olives to the city of Jerusalem means, that the apostles took the open heaven and the full measure of the power of the LORD to the place of intimacy, as the number “40” is connected to power of the Holy Spirit, and Jerusalem is the bridal structure, i.e. the wife of the lamb (see Luke 4:14 i.c.w. Revelation 21:2.9-10).

 

14 Jesus returned (note: after 40 days in the desert) to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

 

2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. …

9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

 

After Jesus Christ had ascended to His Father in heaven, the apostles carried His revealing power from the Mount of Olives (note: height = bridegroom) into the city of Jerusalem (note: place situated lower = bride) in order to fill the “lower” with visionary water, so that the bride could arise spirit filled.

Only in Jerusalem did the breath of God – the Holy Spirit – come down on the saints who had gathered in the upper room.

This outpouring of the Spirit can be equalled to the advice of the prophet Elisha, who instructed the three kings (note: king of Israel, Judah and Edom) to dig ditches in the valley (note: true depth in Jesus Christ) in order to receive the supernatural outpouring from the heights of Edom (see 2.Kings 3:15-20).

 

15 But now bring me a harpist.” While the harpist was playing, the hand of the LORD came on Elisha 16 and he said, “This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water.

17 For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink.

18 This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.

19 You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town. You will cut down every good tree, stop up all the springs, and ruin every good field with stones.”

20 The next morning, about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was—water flowing from the direction of Edom! And the land was filled with water.

 

The water of the Spirit, which the apostles shared in Jerusalem, contained the revelation of Jesus Christ, who sits at the right hand of the Father (see Acts 2:22-36).

 

22 “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.

23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

25 David said about him (see Psalm 16:8-11): “ ‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, 27 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.

28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’

29 “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.

30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

31 Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.

32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.

33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said (see Psalm 110:1), “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand 35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” ’

36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

 

 

The Holy Spirit showed me, that the seat of Jesus is to the right hand of the Father, when we stand worshipping in front of the throne of the Heavenly Father.

 

The governmental seat of Jesus is connected to the Cherub (note: means "glancing appearance, lightning flashes"), who is situated to the left of the Mercy Seat, when, as I mentioned before, we stand before the throne of God in worship. This side contains the south wind, which is the movement of the Spirit, who pulls us closer to Jesus Christ, so that He can enjoy our worship, and we can taste Him as the bread of life (see Song of Songs 4:16 i.c.w. John 6:35).

 

16 Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.

 

35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

 

 

For instance, we can take it from the Psalms and the letter to the Hebrews, that God's angels are His winds and ministering spirits (see Psalm 104:4 i.c.w. Hebrews 1:7.14).

 

4 He makes winds his messengers (note: angels), flames of fire his servants.

 

7 In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.” , …

14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

 

 

Cherubim are angelic beings, who carry the presence of the Heavenly Father and the Son, as is revealed by the two cherubim on the golden plate, the so-called Mercy Seat or atonement cover on the Arc of the covenant (see Exodus 25:17-20 i.c.w. Ezekiel 1:26; Ezekiel 10:1.12).

 

17 “Make an atonement cover of pure gold - two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.

18 And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover.

19 Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends.

20 The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover.

 

26 Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.

 

1 I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of lapis lazuli above the vault that was over the heads of the cherubim. …

12 Their entire bodies, including their backs, their hands and their wings, were completely full of eyes, as were their four wheels.

 

In the midst of the presence of the Cherubim there are lightnings, voices and thunder (see Revelation 4:5).

 

5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.

 

The Greek word used for "voices" in Revelation 4:5 is „phōnē“ and means "that, which casts light on what one thinks in his mind. It is the mind being made accessible through the voice of others. It also means an audible noise or sound someone or something makes. It could be the sound of instruments, animals, thunder or other things." (note: partial statement from the Elberfelder Study Bible with the language key 5268 for the Greek word "phōnē").

This explanation clearly shows that where God's presence is moving, He speaks concealed, and this is only comprehensible for those who out of love continually stay in His presence.

 

 

Just as in the natural the Menorah was positioned at the south side of the temple as well as the tabernacle, and as this is the side, where Jesus Christ is sitting to the right hand of God, so the LORD calls us to move with His seven burning torches in the spirit realm (see Exodus 26:35 i.c.w. Isaiah 11:2).

 

35 Place the table (note: showbread table) outside the curtain on the north side of the tabernacle and put the lampstand opposite it on the south side.

 

2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD.

 

The light emanating from the menorah of the LORD, the seven burning torches, produce the complete covenant presence of the Holy Spirit in His sevenfold character, which is as follows:

 

The presence of the Holy Spirit brings revelation about the plans of the LORD and about the conversations of the Heavenly Father with His son Jesus Christ (see John 16:13-15).

 

13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.

15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

 

 

When we, the people of God, stand before the throne of the Heavenly Father in worship, His son Jesus Christ sits to His right, although from an earthly perspective we, the people of God, see Jesus on the left.

There is a secret in this pointing to the power of the authority of God.

From an earthly perspective, we may see His left side, when we stand before Him in worship; but God always sees from the "right" side from heaven!

By this the LORD wants to tell us that we, His people, take the promised land by His power, though we rule over it with His authority.

At a conference the seer-prophet John Paul Jackson† taught the following about this subject:

 

=> Taking the reign of a king for example, the right hand of the king would symbolise the side of power which instructs, and the left hand side would stand for authority.

God does not want His people to be ruled by dictatorship, but but through kingly fatherhood. <=

 

Both sides carry a paradox, which needs to be understood correctly, as the cross is hidden in it, and it promotes us, if we solely rely on it – similar to the case of Ephraim, who got blessed by his grandfather Jacob before his brother Manasseh, while Jacob's hands were crossed (see Genesis 48:13-14 i.c.w. Luke 13:30).

 

13 And Joseph took both of them, Ephraim on his right toward Israel’s (note: Jacob's) left hand and Manasseh on his left toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them close to him.

14 But Israel reached out his right hand and put it on Ephraim’s head, though he was the younger, and crossing his arms, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.

 

30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”

 

 

While taking another look at the forty days of the appearance of Jesus Christ in His resurrection body after the crucifixion (note: beginning with the third day after the crucifixion) which fell into the time of the "Omer counting – sheaf counting” of the "Feast of Weeks" (note: Shavuot), with the 50^th day being peak day, where we, the people of God, remember that the Torah was given to the people of Israel by God on the mountain, and later the Holy Spirit was poured out in Jerusalem, it is worthwhile to meditate on the various forms of appearance of Jesus Christ during that time.

Jesus Christ wants to meet us in a new way; therefore it is important that the eyes of our heart are opened to recognize His visitation!

I entitle the forty days of the appearance of Jesus in His resurrected body as the days of revelation through the resurrection power of Jesus.

After His death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day, Jesus encountered the people He loved in different ways:

 

After these supernatural encounters Jesus Christ ascended to heaven before the eyes of His disciples on the Mount of Olives.

 

 

Looking at the ten supernatural encounters mentioned above, it becomes apparent that some people did not recognize Jesus Christ, although they walked with Him for many years and had a personal relationship with Him.

This appeals to us, His people, to renew our spirit and mind to be able to recognize Jesus in our time: how He encounters us and speaks to us.

The forty days of Jesus' appearance on the earth as the risen one carry a secret of His character as:

 

Amen and Amen.
