True Friendship With God

It is God's desire to have true lovers or friends among His people, who want to know and discern His heart more. Just like Moses, who had a close relationship with God, because it is written that the LORD spoke to him face to face (see Exodus 33:11a).

Exodus 33:11a:
11a The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. …

Friend of God and Moses' Desire

The Hebrew word used here for “friend” is “rēa'“ and is derived from the root word “rā'āh“, which means “to tend, herd, graze, exercise authority as shepherd or king” (note: part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study bible on the word “friend – rēa'“ and the word “shepherd – rā'āh“ with word key numbers 7627, 7637)

By this we can see clearly that being a friend of God means entering a higher level of God's presence to act from the rulership of God. Entering a higher level of God's presence (note: rulership) – no matter how adverse the circumstances may be – is essential, just as Moses did, after the people of Israel instructed Aaron to make a golden calf for them to worship.

Despite the adverse circumstance of false worship, Moses submitted himself under God's mighty hand and yielded to the plan of the LORD in order to guide the entire people of Israel – as a shepherd does, who takes his flock to green pastures for grazing.

Moses had such a passion and desire in leading his people that he even demanded of the LORD to erase his name from the book of life, if it would save the people of Israel (see Exodus 32:32-35)!

Exodus 32:32-35:
32 But now, please forgive their sin – but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.”
33 The LORD replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.
34 Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin.”
35 And the LORD struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf Aaron had made.

Furthermore, Moses identified himself with the calling of the people of God to an extent, that it became his deepest desire to see this chosen people stand, that is, walk in the promises of God.

Freeing the people of Israel from the slavery of Egypt was the task of Moses; this later enabled them to enter into the promise of God under Joshua's guidance.

It also becomes apparent in this case that the friends of God are firstly aware of their identity as kings and priests in Jesus Christ (see Exodus 19:6 i.c.w. 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:5-6; Revelation 5:9-10). It enables them to reign from this position of their identity, first in their own lives, and later on, if it is the will of God, to also guide other people, whom God puts in their care, in a kingly and priestly way.
Therefore, a friend of God knows how to move in the level of the rulership of God, and at the same time he has revelation knowledge about the level of the “green pasture”, where, in accordance with his calling, he has to lead the people of God (see Colossians 3:1-2 i.c.w. Revelation 4:2-3); this is his longing.

Colossians 3:1-2:
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Revelation 4:2-3:
2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.
3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald (note: greenish) encircled the throne.

Jesus Christ, the Door to the Green Pasture and „JAHWE–ROI“

It is therefore no coincidence that Jesus Christ was speaking of Himself as the door leading to the green pasture: This represents His father's throne room presence, whose throne is surrounded by a greenish light (see John 10:9; Psalm 23:2 i.c.w. Revelation 4:3)

John 10:9:
9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

Psalm 23:2:
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.

Revelation 4:3:
3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald (note: greenish) encircled the throne.

This state of encamping on the green pasture is closely connected to the potential of God's guidance as „JAHWE-ROI“, who is the shepherd taking care of His flock (see Genesis 16:13 i.c.w. Psalm 23:1).

Genesis 16:13:
13 She (note: Hagar) gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me (note: JAHWE–ROI),” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Psalm 23:1:
1 A Psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd (note: Hebrew „rā'āh“; mentioned as above), I lack nothing.

The LORD's care for a person usually results in guidance of the said saint from a false into the proper position; this is achieved by the light in His “blink of an eye” (see 1 John 1:5 Luke 11:34a-b).

1 John 1:5:
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

Luke 11:34a-b:
34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. …

Being moved to the right position is connected to the center of God's will; this can also be equaled to the parable of the shepherd, who searched for his lost sheep and who reestablished the full measure of the one hundred in his flock (see Matthew 18:12-14).

Matthew 18:12-14:
12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.
14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.

This light of the “blink of the eye” of God contains the revelation knowledge needed to lead the respective believer into a momentum initiated by God, so that he – with his God given promise – will be at the right time in the right place predestined by the LORD.

The Slave Hagar and God's Promise

This is what happened to the slave Hagar, when she became pregnant with a son as a result of Abram's (note: later renamed Abraham by God) unbelief. This was revealed to her later by the angel of the LORD in the desert (see Genesis 16:1-2.11).

Genesis 16:1-2.11:
1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; 2 so she said to Abram, “The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said. …
11 The angel of the LORD also said to her: “You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery.

Though Abram (note: later renamed Abraham by God) acted on the unbelief of his wife Sarai (note: later renamed Sarah by God), which was a sin (see Romans 14:23b), it didn't mean that Hagar was moving in a sinful pattern, as she was submitted to them.

Romans 14:23b:
… 23b and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

A person doesn't necessarily miss God's promise for his life, should someone of authority appointed over the believer fail them (note: make a wrong decision), as we can see here (see Romans 8:28).

Romans 8:28:
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

God saw Hagar, while she walked through the desert, pregnant with a son, and He surrounded her with His revelatory presence in the shape of the angel of the LORD. This angel told her that she was carrying a promise inside, which she wasn't able to define before.

We can see this, because the angel of the LORD instructed Hagar to name her promise “Ishmael“, “God hears”.

The angel of the LORD also commanded her to return to her mistress Sarai, the wife of Abram (see Genesis 16:9).

Genesis 16:9:
9 Then the angel of the LORD told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.”

By way of Hagar, God wanted to reveal to Abraham and his wife that He doesn't regret giving promises, even if people in authority fail, as God wants them, too, to come into agreement with His will. For this reason, Hagar received the instruction to return (see Genesis 16:15).

Genesis 16:15:
15 So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne.

It is vital in such a case, not to elevate oneself above those who made mistakes, but to carry on with a humble heart attitude; this is connected with the grace and lifting up of the LORD at the right time (see 1 Peter 5:5-6).

1 Peter 5:5-6:
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders.
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Entering Deeper into the Green Pasture in Christ

I would like to return to the meaning of the green pasture: It stands for the coming in and going out through the door, which is Jesus Christ, thus entering deeper into the fields, where His revelatory treasures lay hidden (see Colossians 2:3).

Colossians 2:3:
… 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

It means as well, that we come out of a field of revelation in Christ, and that we can go into a new field of revelation in Christ.

As Jesus was staying at the opposite shore of lake Galilee, a great multitude of people followed Him. He guided them to a green pasture, where they – because of His miracle of multiplication – recognized Him as the prophet, who was to come into the world (see John 6:1-2.10.12-14).

John 6:1-2.9-10.12-14:
1 Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), 2 and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. …
9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). …
12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

With this scripture we can see that there is a longing Jesus has throughout the ages, to take the believers, through the guidance of His Holy Spirit, into God's territory – His realm of rulership – where God reigns as eternal King or God of the Ages (see Daniel 7:9).

Daniel 7:9:
9 “As I looked, “thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.

This realm is filled with the apostolic-prophetic presence of God, which corresponds to the faces of the lion and the eagle of the four creatures before God's throne, because the lion is the “king among the land animals” and the eagle is the “king of the air” (see Revelation 4:7 i.c.w. 1 Corinthians 12:28a)

Revelation 4:7:
7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.

1 Corinthians 12:28a:
28a And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, …

It is the apostles and prophets, who lay the foundation for the church of Jesus, with Jesus Christ as cornerstone (see Ephesians 2:20).

Ephesians 2:20:
… 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

The Five Bread, the Two Fishes and the Twelve Baskets Filled with Bread

When Jesus Christ lived on earth, He lead the people at lake Galilee into the realm of His complete provision, represented by the boy's five bread and two fishes (note: 7 => completion).

Because Jesus Christ says, that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (see Matthew 4:4 i.c.w. Deuteronomy 8:3), we can see that the multiplication of the bread and the people's stay on the green pasture does not only have an aspect of natural provision, but it also carries a spiritual character.

It is the longing of Jesus, to position the people in the realm of the presence of His reigning Father, so that they will increase in the wisdom and knowledge of His government authority (see Colossians 2:2-3).

Colossians 2:2-3:
2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

In this presence of God multiplication takes place, for it is His glory which releases favor and provision for spirit, soul and body.

Earthly (note: material) riches and wealth originate in the spiritual world, that is, in the glory of God. And it is God's glory which is the “storage place” for the anointing.

Looking at the people encamped on the green pasture, we can see clearly – by the twelve baskets filled with bread – that Jesus is interested in the increase of His power and might, which are connected to His apostolic order and government. The measure of twelve baskets filled with bread suggests this (see Ephesians 6:10 i.c.w. John 6:13).

Ephesians 6:10:
10 Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power.

John 6:13:
13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

Through this sign in front of their eyes, the people acknowledged the anointing of the Son of God in the facet of the prophet (see. John 6:14).

John 6:14:
14 After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

To be able to walk in an apostolic-prophetic understanding, it is therefore needed to mind, from which realm of anointing a believer “eats” the word of God.

It is crucial that the fear of the unknown does not keep a believer in Christ from entering the new revelatory realm of God.

Moses had to pass through the dark cloud on the mountain, which represents the unknown and requires complete trust, as well as abandonment to God, the Father, before he was able to hear God speak to him face to face (see Exodus 24:18).

Exodus 24:18:
18 Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

The Emerald and the Tribe of Levi

The green pasture also points towards the emerald (note: baraket) which, as a gemstone, is connected to the tribe of Levi, according to Exodus 28:15-30 and Exodus 39:8-21, as well as Exodus 1:2-3.
The name “Levi” means “adherence, affiliation” and illustrates the indispensable need to hang on to the Son of God, i.e. to follow Him. This is the only way we can enter into the new revelatory power of God for this time to understand what the will of the Father is in this time.

As mentioned earlier, the emerald points towards the presence of God's throne room (see Revelation 4:3).

Revelation 4:3:
3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald (note: greenish) encircled the throne.

=> The color “green” is the color that means “go“. This is the form of reality of divine activity. This color is connected to riches and wealth, as well as spiritual well being and prophetic strategy.

Emerald green points to the faith and walk in the rulership authority of God. <= (Part excerpt form the “Prophet's Dictionary” by Paula A. Price, PhD.; pages 196, 241; note of the translator: The above excerpt is a re-translation of a German translation, as the original text was not available at the time of translation).

Friendship with God therefore includes a live in total submission to the guidance of God, His order and His apportionment. It is solely connected to humility and undivided devotion, in order to be led to a higher level.

This means, believers who advance in faith in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, but align their life or ministry in their respective fellowship with other saints, with the world, or if they uphold values of worldly-minded people in society, will not be able to understand this revelatory knowledge, much less receive it (see James 4:4b i.c.w. 1 John 2:15-16).

James 4:4b:
… 4b Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

1 John 2:15-16:
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – comes not from the Father but from the world.

If instead believers (note: saints) decide to be a counterpart for Father God in their identity as mature sons, and align themselves accordingly, the Spirit of God will guide them to a new level of revelation knowledge, which will lead to greater influence in the visible and invisible (see James 4:7a).

James 4:7a:
7a Submit yourselves, then, to God. …

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm
