The Healed Man at the Beautiful Gate and the Time Frame of Nissan-Abib

In connection with the beginning of the first biblical month ‘Nissan/Abib’ in the middle of the cycle of redemption, I was led to the biblical passage from Acts 3:1-10, where it is about the lame man. He sat and begged at the so-called beautiful gate of the temple.

That man was paralyzed from birth, and it can be assumed that the paralytic also sat there during Jesus’ lifetime, since he was carried to this place every day (cf. Acts 3:2).

Acts 3:2:
2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.

Putting into Practice the Deeds that One Sees the Heavenly Father Doing

Since Jesus only did what He saw His Heavenly Father do, it can be assumed that the healing of the paralytic was not His commission at that time (cf. John 5:19).

John 5:19:
19 Jesus gave them this answer: ‘Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. …’

Jesus knew that the day of the healing miracle for the paralyzed man would come because Peter and John later healed the paralyzed man on His behalf (cf. Acts 3:3-8).

Acts 3:3-8:
3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, ‘Look at us!’
5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’
7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.
8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.

The Greek word used for ‘beautiful’ in reference to the door of the temple at which the paralytic sat is ‘hōrạịos’, meaning ‘timely, punctual, beautiful, wonderful, well-formed’. It is derived from the Greek root word ‘hōra’, which means, among other things, ‘a certain time’ or ‘the right hour’. (Note: part excerpt from the Elberfleder Study Bible on the Greek word ‘hōrạịos – beautiful’ and the word ‘hōra – point in time’ with word key numbers: 5418* and 5417)

Since the Tenakh (Note: Old Testament) is written in Hebrew and the New Testament in its original text is written in Greek, we can receive deeper wisdom and knowledge from it. This is why it was no coincidence that at the crucifixion of Jesus, Pilate placed a sign on the cross in three languages, namely, Aramaic/Hebrew, Latin and Greek, calling and confirming Jesus as the king of the Jews (cf. John 19:19-20 i.c.w. Colossians 2:3).

John 19:19-20:
19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews.
20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.

Colossians 2:3:
… 3 in whom (Note: Christ) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

The Beautiful Gate and Passover

In reference to the paralyzed condition of the man at the beautiful gate, the Hebrew word for ‘lame’ reveals that it refers to a significant window of God’s time, which is the feast of ‘Passover’.

The Hebrew word for ‘lame’ is ‘piśśēaḥ’, which root word is ‘pāśaḥ’ and means, among other things, ‘to hop, to skip over, to spare’ and is closely connected to Passover, since the words just mentioned are written in the same arrangement of Hebrew letters (Note: Pe, Samech, Cheth => פסח). (Note: part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study Bible on the Hebrew word ‘piśśēaḥ – lame’ and ‘pāśaḥ – to pass by, to skip, to spare’ with the word key number 6589*, 6586)

Thus, based on the paralytic’s stay at the ‘beautiful gate’, it shows that he positioned himself inthe correct time frame. In this case, the ‘beautiful gate’ of the temple can be seen as the beginning of the biblical month Nissan/Abib, since this is the first month commanded by God, to which all other biblical months submit in honor (cf. Exodus 12:2; Exodus 13:4).

Exodus 12:2:
2 This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.

Exodus 13:4:
4 Today, in the month of Aviv, you are leaving.

Furthermore, based on the word explanation for the Hebrew word for ‘lame – piśśēaḥ’ in a prophetic context, it can be said that the paralytic represents the temporal body of the feast of Passover. Thus, this insight calls us to bring this feast in a Spirit-filled way to the biblical month of Nissan-Abib in the center of the Father’s house (Note: temple; cf. Luke 2:46.49), which includes the celebrating of the love given to us by God, which is Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God (cf. John 3:16 i.c.w. John 1:29).

John 3:16:
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 1:29:
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! …’

The Apostolic and Prophetic View

In this context, this requires an apostolic and prophetic view of God’s timing, which is not based on mere tradition, but on the revelatory knowledge we can take from the Torah.

As a result, the paralytic condition dissolves and believers emerge from a cycle of poverty, based on religious tradition into the timing of God’s redemption and prosperity for spirit, soul and body (cf. Acts 3:4-6).

Acts 3:4-6:
4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, ‘Look at us!’
5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’

The lame man could receive his healing, which involved the restoration of Passover according to God’s conception, to become a literal sign and wonder to those around him. But before he could do this, it was necessary for him to look into the apostolic and prophetic light, namely God’s proper understanding of time.

Only in the change of the direction of his gaze he was filled with God’s light and touched by His power, so that he could follow the apostolic command (cf. Acts 3:4.6-7 i.c.w. Luke 11:34a-b).

Acts 3:4.6-7:
4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, ‘Look at us!’ …
6 Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’
7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.

Luke 11:34a-b:
34a-b Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. …

We are convinced that the Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ will reveal Himself in the coming time in the facet of ‘Alpha and Omega’, encompassing the dimension of the God as the ‘Ancient of Days’ who is bringing forth new realms of governmental rule for His people for the purpose of establishing righteousness (cf. Revelation 1:8; Revelation 22:13 i.c.w. Daniel 7:9-10).

Revelation 1:8:
8 ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.’

Revelation 22:13:
13 I am (Note: Jesus Christ) the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Daniel 7:9-10:
9 ‘As I looked, ‘thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.
10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.

Furthermore, the LORD in the form of His ‘time body – Alpha and Omega’ will supernaturally touch people in their temporary time as they move into His biblical time and understanding of His seasons and timing.

As disciples, we need to respond to the apostolic and prophetic call as well as His presence and, like the paralytic, to respond to Peter’s command and enter into God’s time in the form of the temple in order to reveal the love of the Heavenly Father.

In the case of the paralytic at the beautiful gate, the enlightened ‘moments’ of the apostles, together with the ‘moment’ of the lame man, which was unenlightened at that time, horizontally established the victory of Jesus’ cross in the invisible world. The reason is because the lame man had to look to the right and to the left with his eyes in order to look into the four eyes of the apostles.

The Four Eyes and the Door

The number of eyes involved was six, and this fact points first to the new life of man that was to come for him because God created man on the sixth day (cf. Genesis 1:27.31).

Genesis 1:27.31:
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. …
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day.

The four eyes of the apostles formed the door for the paralyzed man to enter the higher realm of God, much like John experienced when he saw the door in heaven opened in the book of Revelation (cf. Revelation 4:1).

Revelation 4:1:
1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.’

The number ‘4’ is associated with the Hebrew letter ‘Daleth’, which is connected with an ‘open tent door’ and is also a reference to Jesus Christ, who is the door in order to enter into the provision and presence of God (cf. John 10:9).

John 10:9:
9 I am (Note: Jesus Christ) the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

The coming forth of this paralyzed man into his healing points to the renewed understanding of time related to biblical times and restoration in the love of God. This leads to moving forward in it as well as to bring it into the house of God in order to increase in spiritual intimacy in love for God, yourself, and your neighbor, which means to bring great honor toward God (cf. Matthew 22:37-40 i.c.w. Acts 3:8-10).

Matthew 22:37-40:
37 Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’

Acts 3:8-10:
8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

God’s Call to Go Higher Spiritually and the Potential of the Passover Lamb

At the times when God wants to bring about a change in the body of Christ on earth, it is not left out that spiritual leaders within the body of Christ are also called upon by God to move to a higher level of fellowship and spiritual development in order to produce more fruitfulness for His people (cf. Acts 3:1).

Acts 3:1:
1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer – at three in the afternoon.

As a result, in the lives of spiritual leaders, it is common that corresponding challenges follow in order to bring forth the will and timing of God in the lives of people.

The discipleship of this healed paralyzed man became a sign that animated Peter to preach to the people the mystery of the Passover Lamb, who is Jesus Christ in the form of the Crucified and Resurrected One (cf. Acts 3:12-16).

Acts 3:12-16:
12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: ‘Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.
14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.
16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,
