We are commissioned by Jesus Christ to shine as light in the world without being hidden. In this context, I would like to refer to the menorah (note: the seven-branched lampstand), made entirely of gold in the tabernacle, whose light was to shine forward (cf. Matthew 5:14-16 i.c.w. Numbers 8:1-2).

Matthew 5:14-16:
14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Numbers 8:1-2:
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 ‘Speak to Aaron and say to him, “When you set up the lamps, see that all seven light up the area in front of the lampstand.” ’

The Menorah and the Forward Shining Light

The forward shining light of the menorah, in a spiritual context, can point to the directive word whose revelatory truth leads us to confidently walk our path of righteousness with Christ Jesus (cf. Psalm 119:105).

Psalm 119:105:
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

From the making of the menorah, which is of pure gold, it is clear that it bears the attributes of the almond tree, which is associated with God’s watching over His Word, as He communicated to the prophet Jeremiah (cf. Exodus 25:31.33 i.c.w. Jeremiah 1:11-12).

Exodus 25:31.33:
31 ‘Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them….
33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand.

Jeremiah 1:11-12:
11 The word of the Lord came to me: ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ ‘I see the branch of an almond tree,’ I replied. (note: The Hebrew word for ‘almond tree’ is ‘šāqēd’ and is similar to the Hebrew word ‘šāqad’ which means ‘to be watchful’.)
12 The Lord said to me, ‘You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.’

The seven-branched lampstand was made in a way that first there was a shaft in the middle, from which three arms went off on the right side as well as on the left, so that the lampstand had seven goblets like almond blossoms, on which seven lamps were placed in order to shine forward (cf. Exodus 25:31-33.36-37).

Exodus 25:31-33.36-37:
31 ‘Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them.
32 Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand – three on one side and three on the other.
33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. …
36 The buds and branches shall all be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.
37 ‘Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it.

At God’s instruction, the menorah was positioned on the south side to shine forward, in this case toward the north, where the table of shewbread stood, on which the twelve shewbreads (note: the bread of His presence) were placed (cf. Exodus 26:35).

Exodus 26:35:
35 Place the table outside the curtain on the north side of the tabernacle and put the lampstand opposite it on the south side.

The Vision of the Menorah and the Letters

In connection with the making of the menorah, I received an open vision in which I saw the shaft with its first arm, on which appeared the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which is the ‘Aleph’, also associated with ‘the head of the bull’. Since it is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, it is also the so-called ‘father letter’ because the Hebrew word for ‘father – ‘āb’’ also begins with an ‘Aleph’.

After seeing this, I looked at the three outgoing arms of the menorah on the right as well as on the left side of the shaft. When I saw these three arms on both sides, I recognized the third letter of the Hebrew alphabet on each side, which is a ‘Gimel’, that is also related to the ‘Camel’, among others.

When I saw the letters, a cone of light developed from the lamp of the shaft, which extended simultaneously to the three arms of the right side as well as to the three arms of the left side. Thereupon I could read the word אֲגַגAgag’, which means ‘flame, burning, heated’.

The name ‘Agag’ is the title or proper name of the kings of the Amalekites, who are the archenemies of Israel. (Part excerpt on the name ‘Agag’ from Strong’s Concordance with word key number: H90).

While I was perceiving and pondering this, the LORD called my attention to the position of the menorah, which is located in the south. The Hebrew word used for ‘south’ is ‘têmān’. The south is associated with the highest position of the sun, whose light, in a prophetic context, is also associated with the glory of God, among other things. By biblical standards, the south is on the right side of the east and points to something that comes into the fullness of strength.

From Habakkuk 3:3-4 we can see that Habakkuk saw the LORD coming from the south in His holiness accompanied by praise and glory. Moreover, Habakkuk perceived the radiant presence of God, with rays emanating from His hands that carried the power of God hidden within.

Habakkuk 3:3-4:
3 God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth.
4 His splendour was like the sunrise; rays flashed from his hand, where his power was hidden.

From the explanation about the menorah with the experienced vision, it is clear that even if the adversary (note: represented by ‘Agag’) wants to block or intimidate us in our fellowship with God (cf. Zechariah 3:1-2a), it is essential that we stay in the presence of the Father as a symbol for the bull with His ministering angels as a symbol for the camels. As a result, Satan is rebuked in the presence of God.

Zechariah 3:1-2a:
1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.
2a The Lord said to Satan, ‘The Lord rebuke you, Satan! …’

This means, it is needed that we are satisfied with the grace of God (note: symbol of hands; cf. 2 Corinthians 12:9).

2 Corinthians 12:9:
9 But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

From this we receive the power to reveal or make known the glory of God among men and to assist in giving them direction into true fellowship with God, who desires to reveal Himself to them as Father through Christ Jesus (cf. John 14:9b).

John 14:9b:
… 9b Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. …

Even when the adversary in the form of the antichrist spirit (note: ‘Agag’) confronts us in our walk with Jesus Christ, we may be full of confidence that all things must work out for our good (cf. Romans 8:28).

Romans 8:28:
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

As we abide in the light of the Father’s love and God’s ministering spirits, we receive joy for faithfulness and endurance in the midst of seeming periods of spiritual drought. Furthermore, with a humble heart attitude, we are able to enter deeper into the glorious freedom of the sons of God within His Kingdom in times of ‘narrowness’ or ‘pressing periods’ (cf. Matthew 19:24 i.c.w. Romans 8:21).

Matthew 19:24:
‘… 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.’ (cf. Mark 10:25; Luke 18:25).

Romans 8:21:
… 1 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children (note: sons) of God.

The Bright Shining Light of God in the Darkness

God wants to let His forward shining light shine mostly where it is dark or gloomy in order to bring forth clarity (cf. Genesis 1:1-3 i.c.w. Matthew 4:15-16).

Genesis 1:1-3:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Matthew 4:15-16:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles – 16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light (note: Jesus Christ); on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

In the first place, God makes His light shine through Jesus Christ the Lamb of God because the Lamb possesses the character of a lamp which is the reason why it is no coincidence that Jesus Christ was seen from men as a great light when He walked on earth in flesh and blood (cf. Revelation 21:23 i.c.w. Matthew 4:16).

Revelation 21:23:
23 The city (note: the messianic/anointed Jerusalem) does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

Matthew 4:16:
“… 16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light (note: Jesus Christ); on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

The Lamb of God is the facet of the spiritual characteristic in the invisible world of Jesus Christ carrying the presence of Jesus while He lived on earth in the temporal time (note: round about 33 years; cf. Luke 3:23) as well as His final victory, that He achieved on the middle cross of Calvary.

The Setting Up of the Lamps and its Ignition

In Exodus 8:2 we are told that Aaron (note: means ‘light mountain, enlightenment’) should place the lamps of the menorah so that they might shine to the front. The Hebrew word for ‘set up’ used in this passage is ‘’ālāh’ and means ‘going up, ascending. It also describes the movement from a lower place to a higher place.’

The Hebrew word for the ‘forward shining light’ is ‘’ôr’ and means among other things ‘the source of light/daylight as the first created work of God as well as illumination, bright, glorious, ignited, joy’. (Part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study Bible to the word ‘’ālāh’ with the word key number 6045 and the word ‘’ôr’ with the word key number 220)
So looking closely to the attributes that contributed to the menorah being illuminated according to God’s will, we can clearly see that the obedience of Aaron following the instruction of God by Moses was necessary in the first place.

At this point, Aaron representing saints who have already maintained a close relationship with God over a long period of time, who are spiritually mature as well as empowered to advance in a high sphere of revelation and in the knowledge of the Lord. These are saints, who are willing to be enabled in order to fill the predestined space with divine revelation by God.

The illuminated Room and the Soul of Man

This divine fulfillment of the predestined space is closely connected to the ignition of the spirit of believers (note: like the lighting of the wicks of the seven lamps of the menorah) who would move forward in spirit and in truth in unity and also in the richness of faith.

Furthermore, they should be ready to go to a higher spiritual level in Jesus Christ. It is crucial for those believers to be submitted to a spiritually competent leadership empowering them to go higher in the spirit by their knowledge.

According to the Word of God, the soul/spirit of man is a light or rather a flame (cf. Proverbs 20:27).

Proverbs 20:27:
27 The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.

And similarly, as the flame of a candle moves and always searches its way upward so should we as believers in Jesus Christ always pursue to go higher in the spirit and consequently to mature as sons in the relationship with God, the Father (cf. Romans 8:14).

Romans 8:14:
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children (note: sons) of God.

In this way, in the presence of the Father, it becomes possible for us to recognize what was of soul origin in the past and was only meant to stop us from continuing to carry the light in this time. Only when we, as members of the Body of Christ, no longer have anything in common with darkness, can we effectively lead others out of the realms of lack of knowledge and revelation to see them led in the love of the Father through the Holy Spirit (cf. Romans 13:10-11).

Romans 13:10-11:
10 Love does no harm to a neighbour. Therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.
11 And do this, understanding the present time: the hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm

During a time of intercession with some of our saints a few days ago, the Lord gave me an open vision in which I saw the atmosphere of heaven and the atmosphere of earth, each filled with a strong swirling wind. At this I knew that the winds were different spiritual presences.

The atmosphere of the earth was filled with a negative spiritual presence and that of heaven with the presence of God’s power. Then I could see the power of the wind from heaven in the form of a thin funnel of wind, as in a tornado, piercing into the swirling evil force on earth. It seemed as if the dynamics of the heavens were uniting with those on the earth and increasing. When I saw this, I heard the Lord saying, ‘Let it happen! It must be done! The measure must be made full!’

The Man of God from Judah and the Task of the Ekklēsia

After hearing this, I received the scripture from 1 Kings 13:1-5, where it is about the man of God from Judah who was commissioned by God to go to Bethel and prophesy against the altar on which sacrifice had just been made to the powers of darkness by king Jeroboam.

1 Kings 13:1-5:
1 By the word of the Lord a man of God came from Judah to Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make an offering.
2 By the word of the Lord he cried out against the altar: ‘Altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: “A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you.” ’
3 That same day the man of God gave a sign: ‘This is the sign the Lord has declared: the altar will be split apart and the ashes on it will be poured out.’
4 When King Jeroboam heard what the man of God cried out against the altar at Bethel, he stretched out his hand from the altar and said, ‘Seize him!’ But the hand he stretched out towards the man shrivelled up, so that he could not pull it back.
5 Also, the altar was split apart and its ashes poured out according to the sign given by the man of God by the word of the Lord.

Based on this scripture, the LORD let me know that hidden therein is a strategic approach for His Ekklēsia at this time. To understand the strategy, it is necessary to realize that the man of God came from Judah, but is mentioned without a name. This indicates a humble heart attitude and the walk in high worship with apostolic character.

=> Just as the apostle’s gift represents the governmental power of God, apostolic worship is worship that enables the government of God as He sits enthroned on our praise. It is a worship that brings us into the governmental process of God on earth and carries revelatory truth that we speak out on earth according to His will. ‘Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ (cf. Matthew 6:10)

This involves worshipers making themselves available to God’s purposes in their worship and prophesying according to what they receive from God in their spirit.

It is necessary that we enthrone God on our worship in order to share in His righteous judgment that He brings upon the things that are destructive to humanity. Furthermore, it is important that we raise our reverence and aspiration to know God to a higher level - that is, to carry out His will on earth. What God says and does in heaven must be manifested on earth.

As we worship, our adoration ascends to His throne. Through this process, we are then able to descend into effective warfare. This call, in turn, releases a sound from heaven that has an impact on earth.

The call to worship draws us further into intimacy, and its sound moves us to go into battle. It is God who brings worship and the sword (Note: the revelatory truth of God’s Word) together.
Psalm 149:6-9 states, ‘Let the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them – this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord.’ <= (Note: The text set in ‘=>’ is based on an explanation of apostolic worship from the book ‘Worship As It Is In Heaven’ (ISBN-13: 978-0-8307-5543-1; Regal books by John Dickson and Chuck D. Pierce.)

From apostolic worship grows revelatory truth, which must be prophesied at the right time into the realm of the spiritual structure of evil. It should be noted here that according to 1 Kings 13:2, the man of God first spoke the words of God against the altar.

The Spiritual Warfare and the Bursting of the Altar of Evil

Since our battle is not against flesh and blood, a spiritual approach according to Ephesians 6:12 can be seen in it.

Ephesians 6:12:
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The altar in this case stands for a place of worship of Satan, the father of lies, given to him by the sons of disobedience (cf. John 8:44 i.c.w. Ephesians 5:6).

John 8:44:
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Ephesians 5:6:
6 Let no-one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

An altar of evil or unrighteousness is this:

  • a place of false worship where people offer worship and sacrifice to other gods or evil spirits,
  • a meeting place of evil spirits with people,
  • a gateway to the spiritual world,
  • a place where evil spirits reveal themselves to people,
  • a place where a covenant is made between a false deity or a spirit with people,
  • a place where people draw power from unclean or evil spirits,
  • an unholy place.

The twice addressing of the altar by the man of God from Judah is an indication of the confrontation of the powers of evil under heaven and on earth in the hearts of men.

When the spiritual foundation is taken away from the adversary by the revelatory power of God, he has no other option but to flee (cf. James 4:7).

James 4:7:
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Therefore, it is necessary that there will be a bursting of the altar of evil on the earth, since the presence of the unrighteous altar entitles the wicked to display and glorify evil quite publicly, as we can see from the media at present. There will be a shattering of the altar of evil by the power of God alone, without the involvement of any human being.

The Call to the Ekklēsia

The Ekklēsia is called to prophesy the way for God’s righteous intervention through the revelatory truth allotted to her by the Spirit of God against the structure of evil that currently still exists, based on Colossians 2:15.

Colossians 2:15:
15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Jesus Christ has already triumphed over all the powers of darkness, and out of this triumph of the cross we are to act as people of God.

As a result, the presence of Jesus as the ‘healer’ meets those who repent of their evil ways and brings them restoration but also releases judgment toward those who have conspired with evil and formed a society (Note: synagogue of Satan; cf. Revelation 2:9; Revelation 3:9) that deliberately opposes His grace (cf. John 3:18 i.c.w. 1 Kings 13:2).

John 3:18:
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

1 Kings 13:2:
2 By the word of the Lord he cried out against the altar: ‘Altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: “A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you.”

The bursting of the unrighteous altar will be accompanied by great light in the form of revelatory power and exposure (cf. John 3:19-21).

John 3:19-21:
19 This is the verdict: light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.
21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

All political forces that have conspired with evil and do not repent despite the present revelation by the power of God’s righteousness will fall into a ‘rigidity’. This state of rigidity will once again give them the opportunity to turn from their wicked ways before there will no longer be any room for repentance (cf. 1 Kings 13:4 i.c.w. Hebrews 12:17).

1 Kings 13:4:
4 When King Jeroboam heard what the man of God cried out against the altar at Bethel, he stretched out his hand from the altar and said, ‘Seize him!’ But the hand he stretched out towards the man shrivelled up, so that he could not pull it back.

Hebrews 12:17:
17 Afterwards, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.

Let us use this time in intercession and apostolic worship given to us to do our part as the Body of Christ to bring salvation to the people and secure the future of generations without their totalitarian ‘new world order’ (Note: altar of evil).

Amen and Amen.

In His Wisdom,

Daniel Glimm

The term ‘rivers of living water’ was used by Jesus on the last day of the feast of Sukkot (Note: Feast of Tabernacles), which was the greatest day of the festival (see John 7:37-39).

John 7:37-39:
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’
39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

On this day the high priest was accompanied by a multitude of people as He performed the prophetic act of taking water from the pool of Siloam to the temple. By this the people became witnesses to a special outpouring, because the festival of Sukkot is connected to the increase of the glory of God (see 1 Kings 8:2.10-11).

1 Kings 8:2.10-11:
2 All the Israelites came together to King Solomon at the time of the festival (note: Sukkot or Feast of Tabernacles)in the month of Ethanim, the seventh month. …
10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord.
11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.

As Jesus Christ is also called high priest in the order of Melchizedek, His statement in John 7:38 clearly shows us that He is interested in a special outpouring or increase of His Spirit (see Hebrews 5:5-6).

Hebrews 5:5-6:
5 In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him (see Psalm 2:7), ‘You are my Son; today I have become your Father.’
6 And he says in another place (see Psalm 110:4), ‘You are a priest for ever, in the order of Melchizedek.’

The Impact of the Holy Spirit and the Release of God’s Promise

The Holy Spirit is the One who has an impact on our society or environment: The attributes of wind and water play a special role here, as the living water is linked to life and the breath of God as well as His order. Therefore it is no coincidence that the Spirit of God is first mentioned in the Torah in connection with water He was hovering or sitting over (see Genesis 1:1-2).

Genesis 1:1-2:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

These waters already carried the dimension of heaven and of the seas on the earth within them, which the LORD made visible by establishing the firmament (see Genesis 1:6-10).

Genesis 1:6-10:
6 And God said, ‘Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.’
7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.
8 God called the vault ‘sky’. And there was evening, and there was morning – the second day.
9 And God said, ‘Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.’ And it was so.
10 God called the dry ground ‘land’, and the gathered waters he called ‘seas’. And God saw that it was good. …

It is the Holy Spirit who flows through us into our future, thereby unlocking promises already implemented by God in the ground. This is similar to the river in the region of Eden that separated into four headwaters, bringing forth mineral resources/treasures in their respective regions (see Genesis 2:10-14).

Genesis 2:10-14:
10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters.
11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.
12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx are also there.)
13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.
14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

During the festival of Sukkot (Note: Feast of Tabernacles) every year the high priest performed the above mentioned prophetic act. He took water from the pool of Siloam and carried it up to the temple to pour it out next to the altar.

This symbolizes the petition to God in order to give the former and latter rain on all the land. The latter rain includes the rainfall at the end of the rainy season during the months of March/April, which are vital for the growth of the seeds of the winter crop. However, the former or early rain usually falls between the end of October and the beginning of November, at the start of the rainy season in Israel, which lasts about six months, and which is necessary for new sowing after the dry season of summer.

In this context, this act and the statement of Jesus about the ‘rivers of living water’ reveal that through the Holy Spirit we already carry the outpouring for our region or future within us, so that we are able to unlock the promises of the Heavenly Father.

This unlocking of God’s promises through the living water involves the Holy Spirit moving in the vehicle of prophecy, which is accompanied by prophecy, dreams and visions in peoples’ lives (see Joel 2:28-29).

Joel 2:28-29:
28 ‘And afterwards, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

The Full Measure of the Spirit and the Transformation

It is essential for us that we make the measure set for us by the Holy Spirit full similar to Jesus at the wedding at Cana, where He revealed His glory for the first time and instructed to fill the empty jars to the brim with water. Only after the jars had been filled the transformation from water to wine took place, as well as the movement of the bridegroom (see John 2:1.6-9).

John 2:1.6-9:
1On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, …
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from eighty to a hundred and twenty litres.
7 Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, ‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.’ They did so,
9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realise where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside …

We would like to note here that the act of outpouring during the days of the Feast of Tabernacles was performed daily by the priest, and on the seventh i.e. eighth day, the ‘day of the fullness of the water measure of glory’, Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit.

And at precisely this moment Jesus stood in that place and spoke about the living water, which carries the basic requirement of faith in Him, as is revealed by Him in the Tenakh (Note: God’s Word):

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37-38

When we seek and find Christ in the Tenakh – this is the Word of God in form of the ‘Old Testament’ – and find Him and believe according to the revelation made, an intensification of the Holy Spirit in our lives will take place. This intense power of the Holy Spirit in us works His way into our future, while interacting with faith in the Word of God.

The LORD desires that we believe in His hidden promises for our future, and in this advance with vision in intimacy with the Holy Spirit in order to take hold of them at the right time.

The Living Water and the Kingdom

In connection with the statement of Jesus about the ‘living water’ we should note that we as God’s people are moving in the kingdom structure with its different levels of the heavens linked to the element of water, while gaining more and more understanding. This becomes apparent in the Hebrew word ‘mamlākāh’ used for the term ‘kingdom’.

This Hebrew word begins with the double Hebrew letter ‘Mem’, which is, among others, connected to ‘water’ as well as carrying the numeric value of ‘40’. The Hebrew word used for ‘water’ in the Word of God is ‘Majim’ and is used solely in the plural. It begins and also ends with the Hebrew letter ‘Mem’. (Note: part excerpt from the Elberfelder Study bible on the word ‘mamlākāh – kingdom’ with word key number 4542)

It is therefore no coincidence that, among other things, the creation account, as already mentioned describes the Spirit of God over the waters and that there is also a sea of glass in front of the throne of God (see Genesis 1:1-2; Revelation 4:6).

Genesis 1:1-2:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Revelation 4:6:
6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, round the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and behind.

Every level of heaven carries a realm of water connected to the instruction or commission to reign. In order to act as sons of God in this government, we have to undergo an important testing phase; this is revealed by the number ‘40’.

During this phase of testing and passing we are prompted and encouraged to seek Christ in the truth of His Word, to find Him and believe according to the revelation made, to experience a new dynamic of the Spirit in our lives that flows out of us as a result and contributes to blessing.

In all things Jesus Christ went before us, and after having been baptized in the Jordan river by John the Baptist, He went full of the Spirit into the desert and was tested over a period of 40 days. During this phase of testing He was repeatedly tempted by the devil, and without once falling into sin He resisted the evil (see Luke 4:1-2a i.c.w. Hebrews 4:15).

Luke 4:1-2a:
1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2a where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. …

Hebrews 4:15:
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to feel sympathy for our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin.

As saints we have to know that the kingdom structure is closely aligned with each one of the twelve tribes of Israel, because God gave them the opportunity to be a kingdom of priests by their obedience.

In this we can see clearly that every tribe of Israel carries a spiritual dimension of heaven within, connected to a realm of ‘water’ including spiritual government, because God is Spirit (see Exodus 19:5-6 i.c.w. John 4:24a).

Exodus 19:5-6:
5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.’

John 4:24a:
24a God is spirit, …

The Living Water and True Fasting

In addition, the activation of the living waters is closely connected to true fasting linked to works of righteousness. This righteousness includes ‘release’ which requires us, among other things, to release people who have done us wrong into the freedom of our forgiveness in Jesus Christ. In the same way, we should also let go or release where we have wronged people consciously or unintentionally.

Moreover, it is indispensable that we recognize the need or indigence in our neighbor in order to release works of justice in the form of mercy (see Isaiah 58:6-12 i.c.w. Galatians 6:8-10).

Isaiah 58:6-12:
6 ‘Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: here am I. ‘If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

Galatians 6:8-10:
8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

The streams of the living waters of the Holy Spirit reflect our devotion and holy way of living by acknowledging mercy, grace and truth entrusted to us as carriers of Christ’s anointing for the blessing for our environment, region and the nations.

Blessing here means the will of God, so it involves the interactions of the various gifts of the Holy Spirit and our choices in obedience to the Father. If we allow the Holy Spirit to control, guide and direct us, the intensity of His streams in the form of living water will be able to increase accordingly.

Amen and Amen.
